SubSplit Services Group, LP is hiring for the role of Controller for one of its portfolio companies, MIINC Mechanical Contractors, in Dallas, TX. This role is responsible for Accounting, HR, IT, and Corporate Risk Strategic Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with other executive staff, and skilled and trusted departmental employees, develops, implements, operates, maintains, and controls the essential operating systems, information, and financial business of the company.
  • Establishing accounting systems based upon GAAP to support the company's owners, management, and other outside stakeholders in making strategic and tactical decisions, maintaining controls adequate to the company's risk tolerance.
  • Identifying and implementing risk reduction, cost reduction and profit enhancement initiatives through inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Implementing efficiency enhancing programs within your scope of responsibility.
  • Creating a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Accounting Department Tactical Leadership:

  • Defines and implements key performance indicators and strategic objectives for the division and, as appropriate, the entire organization; facilitates measurement of those objectives, reporting results to the executive team.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including but not limited to tax laws, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), federal acquisition regulations (FAR), and cost accounting standards (CAS).
  • Maintains knowledge of developments and trends in finance and administration including technological advances.
  • Defining processes, determining resource needs, assigning roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely keying of time and remittance of payroll, applicable taxes, and benefits.
  • Monitoring and enforcing controls.
  • Producing reviewed, accurate monthly internal financial statements.
  • Managing external financial audit, tax return prep.

Accounting Department Servant Leadership:

  • Taking full responsibility for the effectiveness of the teams in your scope of responsibility.
  • Attracting, training and retaining team members that communicate clearly, maintain patience in difficult situations, seek to resolve open issues, and are praised by others for their effectiveness.

Accounting Department People Development:

  • Identifying, obtaining, training, and supporting teams to execute the company's accounting and payroll functions. 
  • Measuring effectiveness of team members.
  • Ensuring team leaders and managers positively impact the performance of their team through clear communication of roles, responsibilities and consistent accountability for their performance.

Departmental Management:

  • Right sizing department for current and future demands based upon analysis of business plans and ongoing company performance.
  • Building depth in people and systems to support growth.
  • Evaluating and managing succession plans for key roles.
  • Evaluating and improving departmental effectiveness metrics.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and legal best practices and requirements with a proven ability to provide sound and ethical financial counsel to executive leadership.
  • Thorough understanding of and personal involvement with systems and methodologies of finance and administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; MBA preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant status highly desired.
  • At least ten years of experience in the financial function of a company is required.
  • A preference for blue collar work environments and an appreciation of construction trades.
