Matt Brennan

Founder, CEO

Matt is the founder of SubSplit Services Group, LP and serves the team as our President and CEO. Matt is responsible for SubSplit’s strategic plan, organizational leadership, culture, and overall effectiveness. Matt has a successful track record of strategically integrating and growing specialty construction companies and service businesses while serving in a variety of leadership roles, including CEO, CFO, and COO.

Investing in Community

Over the last twenty years, Matt has served a variety of non-profit organizations, assisting with strategic thinking, development, and impact with the goal of community transformation through the applied teachings of Jesus.

Jesus addressed the fundamental truths of life — truth, justice, and flourishing. Through careful application, His way leads us to “life abundant” and Matt has endeavored to apply these principles in the context of people and organizational development.  

Jesus replied:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Elliot Cunningham

Founder, CFO/CIO

Elliot Cunningham is the CFO/CIO of SubSplit Services Group, LP and is responsible for the leadership of accounting, risk management, HR, and IT for SubSplit and its portfolio companies. Elliot spent nearly 15 years in money management most recently as a senior analyst and principal at a boutique mid-cap firm. He held a variety of leadership positions both in business development and management in the apparel and commercial service industries before partnering with Matt to launch SubSplit.

Investing in Community

Throughout his professional career, Elliot has consistently looked for opportunities to serve non-profits and ministries as a board member, advocate, and partner. He seeks to use his business experience to support these groups in sharing the all encompassing nature of the good news of the Gospel and God’s Kingdom here on earth.

David Wetherald, P.E.

Operating Partner

David is an Operating Partner for Subsplit responsible for integrating the Subsplit Business Management System directly with the teams of our portfolio companies. David, a Licensed Professional Engineer, is operationally and process focused with strong experience in people development, engineering design, project management, specialty construction execution, field engineering, estimating, and steel fabrication. David's comprehensive approach to work includes supporting problem solving and buyer facilitation, leading teams of engineers and project managers through the design and project planning, to supporting construction teams with field engineering on-site.

Investing in Community

David's seeks to share his passion for leadership and organizational health through youth sports, providing leadership training and development to coaches, serving on community boards, and coaching recreational sport teams.

Charlie Marcum

Director
Charlie Marcum is a partner and board member of Soterra Capital, Launch Capital Partners, MXD Process, PureForge, and SubSplit. Previously, he was owner and president of TopWorx, a global manufacturer of industrial technology acquired by Fortune 200 conglomerate Emerson Electric. Charlie is passionate about funding Christian ministry in unreached and under-resourced areas of the world.

Robert Montague

Director
Robert Montague has a rich background in leadership and community service, serving in various church, non-profit, and for-profit organizations with a focus on Kingdom-oriented initiatives. Previously, Robert served as the founding Executive Director of Tech901, and served in engineering, marketing, and management roles at BFGoodrich, DTM Systems, Morgan Keegan & Co., and the Royal Bank of Canada.

Chuck Welden

Director
After practicing law at the Birmingham law firm of Burr & Forman, Chuck joined WeldenField where he focuses on alternative investments and real estate opportunities which includes acquisition, development, redevelopment and construction for multifamily, single family, hotel, active adult, and land development. Investing in Business as Mission Companies (BAM) has been one of the focal points for Chuck’s alternative investments, which led him to co-create Lion’s Den, an annual “shark tank” event for business as mission companies. Chuck serves as of multiple BAM companies along with the Alabama Wildlife Federation and the National Christian Foundation of Alabama.

Michael Honan

Director
Michael Honan has served in numerous roles at Barnhart Crane and Rigging Company since 1999, including CFO, COO and Chairman BE&C, where he currently serves. Prior to Barnhart, Michael served at AutoZone in various Financial, Accounting & Operational leadership roles for nearly a decade.
